I thought I would post this because I LOVE IT! Read it! It will make you laugh if you like shopping, getting your hair done, or any of that girly stuff that husbands will really never "get". But props to them for "trying" to get it sometimes! Husbands should read this too!

Giving Up Shopping

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner.

I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, 'If I give you this money, will you buy wine with it instead of dinner?'

'No, I had to stop drinking years ago', the homeless woman told me.

'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.

'No, I don't waste time shopping,' the homeless woman said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.'

'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.

'Are you NUTS!' replied the homeless woman. I haven't had my hair done in 20 years!'

'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.'

The homeless Woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting.'

I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and wine.'

ah ha ha ha ha! that's what i was talking about at girl's night :) anyway, i thought i'd reply on your blog to your comment on mine, so you're more likely to get it. i'm just happy to know that somebody is reading what i write. i do treat blogging as a sort of journal, while at the same time not making it too personal, since the whole world can read it. it's good for me since i'm a terrible journaler, and i love having friends and family that blog too. on the one hand it's a great way to keep up on what everyone is doing, but on the other hand it's pretty impersonal. sometimes i'll be talking to someone and one of us will say, so how is such and such, and the other will say, how did you know about that? the response is usually, oh i read it on your blog!
