Moving

Well, we have been waiting forever it seems like to actually move. We listed our home for sale in November 2012 because Darrin got a new job with EBAY and we wanted to be closer and could more afford a new place. In the beginning of February we went under contract to sell our home! That was SO exciting but you just don't know how loooooong of a ride it'll be until the sale ACTUALLY takes place!

As soon as we got under contract to sell we were freaking out a little because they wanted to close on March 6th and we didn't have a place to move to! So we worked it out that we could move into my Grandmas (she has a home in St. George that she's at for the winter) until we found a place. But we quickly got to looking seriously at homes. We sent our Realtor a list of 5 places we'd like to see asap. The next day we went out to see them. The first stop was a home in South Jordan that we didn't even remember putting on our list of places to see! The pictures on the listing just didn't look like it had a very spacious living area and that's what we were looking for. But, here we were at this house. So we went to check it out and FELL IN LOVE!!! The other places didn't even compare to us. I was ready to make an offer the same night. But then I remembered that this is the biggest purchase of our lives and we should probably be SURE.

The next day we went to see it again. Still loved it :). From the first time we saw it and through prayer, I really feel like it's where we are meant to be. So, we did put in an offer and shortly after we were under contract to purchase it!

Let me tell you a little about this home:
-Location, location, location. About 11500 South 1400 West. CLOSE to the freeway (5.5 minutes!) and CLOSE to Darrin's work (8 minutes!)
-Built in 1987 but COMPLETELY remodeled inside and out. Feels like moving into a new home :). Smells new!
-4,600 Square feet. 2,300 up and 2,300 down.
-6 beds, 6 baths. 3/3 up, 3/3 down.
-Mother in Law apartment. Now this is something we weren't looking for since that's what we currently have (I kinda wanted my own place after sharing a house for 5 years). The mother-in-law is the entire basement (2,300 square feet) and has it's own furnace, washer/dryer hookups, covered parking, separate entrance, own water heater etc. NICE! We obviously aren't obligated to rent it out but we decided we will be for the first few years (we decided we'll keep a renter until we don't have mortgage insurance anymore). The crazy thing is that OUR CURRENT RENTER is COMING WITH US!!!!! How crazy is that?! She is THE BOMB! Single, no kids, no pets, always pays rent on time, we LOVE her and she loves us :) (at least that's what she tells us :)). I'm so grateful for Angie. Although I'd love to have a whole house to myself, it'll sure be nice to have the extra money and she is SO fun and easy to live with. YAY!
-0.50 acres. It's actually a horse property but it's definitely not big enough for horses :).
-NICE custom playground in backyard with a slide, swing-set and picnic table! Parker can't stop talking about it.
-BIG laundry room that I'll be putting my SALON in!
-3 car garage
-7 car carport. YES, I said 7 car. haha. The covered carport runs along side the whole house. It's sweet. You could put whatever you want under it.
-Pretty much my DREAM KITCHEN. Not quite as much cabinet space as I'd like (buy hey-I'm not complaining :)!) but has granite counter-tops, walk-in pantry and all new, stainless steel appliances!
-BIG, HUGE living area right off the kitchen which is what we've been looking for so that it's not cramped when we have our large families over. Or friends!

Can you tell I love it?! So we're moving from living in 1,100 square feet 3 beds, 1 bath, no garage, no master bed/bath to 2,300 square feet (since we're renting out the basement for now), 3 car garage, with a master bed/bath 3 beds, 3 baths. Same amount of bedrooms but bigger and nicer with lots of extras. Can't wait!

But after we got under contract with both places came all the UN-FUN stuff including
-inspections
-negotiations
-appraisals
-closing date changes (TWICE now!)
-Packing, packing, packing
-etc, etc, etc...

We're pretty much in the clear now though so that's good but you never know... As of today our closing date for our current home is on Monday and our closing on our new home is Wednesday and we don't get "possession" until Thursday. We'll have Thursday and Friday to do all the moving and cleaning (we negotiated these days in with the buyers of our home).

Packing hasn't been the worst thing of life like I thought it would be. Since I've had a month, I've just packed a little at a time and have had lots of help mostly from my ANGEL MOTHER! She has gotten me ALL the boxes I need! This was a HUGE stress relief! She's surprised me with several box-drop-offs! How cute and AMAZING is my Mom?!? I love you Mom-you're the best!!!

So, wish us luck that everything goes smoothly! Prayers would be appreciated :). This is a crazy stressful time but I know we're moving where we're supposed to and I'm grateful for all the MIRACLES along this adventure.

As a side note, I'm kind of terrified to move into a new ward and be the new kids on the block. I LOVE my current ward, I LOVE my current calling and all my friends here. It breaks my heart to be leaving. It took us about 3 years to feel really comfortable in our ward and now we're starting all over again... We know that our new ward is an older ward. Not always a bad thing. That's how our current ward was when we moved in. It's nice to have variety. But I also want friends for my little ones. Let's hope there's enough kids. You just don't know how it'll be until you go! So, we're going for the first time this Sunday since we already said our SAD goodbye's in our current ward and we were supposed to be moved in my this Sunday but plans changed and we decided to keep the plan of attending the new ward. Wish us luck!
