We did it again! Another trip for the books! This time we had the opportunity to go just Darrin and I on an amusement park vacation. Last fall we went to Texas for a business trip for Darrin. While there we decided to go to six flags and at the time they were running a promotion for $70 you get a season pass to all the six flags plus free parking. We've certainly taken advantage and it's been SO worth it! This season we've been to Six flags 7 times and to 5 different locations. Parking alone normally costs $20/day!
Highlights Summary of our trip: We got to go to Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York New Jersey, Maryland, Washington and Pennsylvania! In 5 days we got to go to three different 6 flags and each day the weather was gorgeous, the crowds were small and everything was perfect! We also got to explore New York City, Washington DC, the Washington Temple, and the historical sites in Philadelphia. What an incredible trip it was!
Wednesday:
Picked Parker up from school, dropped them off at my parents, and my Dad took us to the airport. Took off at 4:10. Layover in Chicago. Landed in Hartford CT. Took shuttle to Econo lodge. Strange hotel. Very small room with old paint and odd stairway to get to the room. Slept.

Thursday: woke up at 8:45, got ready, ate breakfast, took the shuttle from our hotel to enterprise to grab our rental car. We got a Kia Rio. It was raining :(. We drive 20 minutes to get to the New England six flags in Massachusetts. The rain was on and off light rain. It was so calm-hardly anyone there. We started the day off with Superman which was amazing. You keep going up and up before it drops you the view was incredible up that high you could see a huge river with rainforest and fog all around. In 3 hours, we were able to ride all the rides besides the kids rides, some multiple times. In that time we rode 5 of the rides all to ourselves, and only had to wait in 2 lines total!! Then we stayed longer to ride Superman a total of 6 times including one time with virtual reality goggles. Superman was our favorite, Goliath was good, Batman was great too. Then we left at about 3:30 and decided to go to NYC with our extra time. We got there at about 7pm. We went to the top of the Rockefeller center. Tickets were $30 each. The elevator was fast, and had a glass roof and lights so you could see how fast you were going up. Our ears kept having to pop. Then we went out on the roof. It was incredible!! All lit up at night and 69 floors high. Romantic, beautiful, and breathtaking. It was even quite quiet and wonderful. We walked around a bit and then headed an hour and a half to our hotel (days inn) in NJ. We also stopped at Denny's for a late dinner. What an amazing day!
Friday: six flags great adventure in NJ. Got there half hour early. Crowds seemed Much worse than Thursday. We started with Superman again. Great ride but they had SO many wonderful rides most notable including kinda da (0-128mph in 3.5 seconds-world's tallest roller coaster) and el Toro (works fastest wooden roller coaster and world's tallest dropped wooden coaster). They also had a 2 hour long safari that was really similar to Disney's animal kingdom. It was a big park (second biggest in the world next to animal kingdom). Memories include getting stuck on top of the first, tallest incline of El Toro for 5 minutes and it kept clicking like we'd drop back-words!! And then, after 5 minutes, it jolted back a foot and then sprang forward and finished the ride! Seriously SO freaky!!!!! The safari was incredible too and we got to see so many animals our favorites being the baby bear cub, lion cubs, a huge anteater, and many many other animals up close. We left at about 7 and went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's with my birthday coupon. Then we went back to the hotel to relax a little before our next long day.
Saturday: woke up at 6am to eat breakfast, check out and drive the 3 hours to Maryland. We were accounting for Morning traffic but there wasn't any so we got here an hour and a half before the park opening. While we waited Darrin napped and I called the boys to talk. Six flags America was good. Probably our 3rd favorite though of the 3. Not a lot of rides although Superman (went first on that again ), Batman's wing, and the joker were all fantastic rides. Our favorites of the park. . The crowds weren't bad at all and the weather was fantastic! Cloudy for the most part with light wind. Left the park at about 6 after we finished riding all the rides and all the good ones multiple times. We headed to the grocery store to pick up food for Sunday. Then we went to dinner at a place canned Texas ribs and bbq. It was delicious. Then we came to our hotel (econo lodge) and crashed.
Sunday: woke up around 7, got ready, ate breakfast, and drove the 30 minutes to Washington DC. We started at the Lincoln memorial and walked around the national mall to see a lot of different monuments. It was so neat to see the Lincoln memorial, the white house, the Washington monument, the Roosevelt monument, the Jefferson monument, the Capitol, and many More. We had lunch on a park bench in the shade, then drive to the Washington Temple. It was gorgeous!! They were working on the angel Moroni which they'd taken down. But despite that, it was gorgeous! And we were pleasantly surprised that they had a visitors center that was open! It was wonderful! The sister missionaries were so nice and they had the meet the Mormons videos including the new 3 ones. We got our own private theater to watch them! They were so good! There was the cowboy one, the artist and bless4. Loved them! They also had a 3D printed temple with the interior and everything. Incredible! Then we drove the 2 More hours to Pennsylvania. We went to Philadelphia to see the historical sites there. We saw the liberty bell, independence hall (where the Constitution and declaration of independence were signed), Benjamin Franklin's home, the first national Bank and More. Really neat!! Then we went to our hotel (waterfront inn) and are dinner and relaxed until bed.
Monday: woke up at 8, ate breakfast, headed to return our car and headed to the airport.Got home at around 4pm. My parents were SO SO awesome once again to take us to and from the airport.
