Today is my 5 year wedding anniversary with Darrin. I am so in love. I would say even more so than the day I was married 5 years ago which I didn't think was possible. That's how marriage is supposed to go, right? I love him more and more as the years go by as we get to share experiences and trials TOGETHER. He is my best friend. He is my rock when I am having a bad day. He is my "Let's go have some fun!" when I'm bored. He is my "Let's just go out to eat or order in!" when I don't feel like cooking. He is my "Let's get a redbox and relax" when I've had a long day. He is my "Everything will work out" when I'm unsure. He is my "I love you no matter what". He is my "you're doing too much" reminder. He is my "Go have fun at Young Women's" each Wednesday as he takes over the Mom job for the night. He is my "Hey I'm on my way home from work. How was your day?" kinda guy (I love when he calls on his way home). He is my Best Friend, He is my everything, He is my man and I love him with all my heart!
We decided that we weren't going to really do a big "gift" or anything for our Anniversary or Valentines Day this year since we're hopefully going to be buying a home and we don't need anything since it was just Christmas. But I still really wanted to show him somehow how much I love him... so I obviously went to pinterest to explore my options...
I decided to do a BALLOON for each year we've been married and do a picture attached to the balloon with some memories from that year on it. I was disappointed when the balloons couldn't hold up the pictures. You'd really have to have a paper thin picture for the balloon to actually carry it. But it worked out anyways. I also decided to do "14 days of Love". It's perfect for us since our anniversary is on February 1st and Valentines is on the 14th. So I will be doing a small act of LOVE each day up to Valentines Day. At the same time I'll be doing one of my personal progress values :).
Divine Nature #3: Make your home life better. For two weeks make a special effort to strengthen your relationship with a family member by showing love through your actions. Refrain from judging, criticizing, or speaking unkindly, and watch for positive qualities in that family member. Write notes of encouragement, pray for this family member, find ways to be helpful, and verbally express your love.
Isn't that perfect? Hopefully I'll be able to post what I do for each day at the end to share with you some ideas that might spark an inspiration to show love to your man. But for today, here's what Darrin woke up to:
For breakfast in bed we had german pancakes with blueberries and a homemade strawberry sauce.
I think that tonight we'll be doing dinner and a movie. Can't wait to spend some time kid free (I love them though!) with my hubs. Here we are going into year 6 and I'm stoked to see what this year has to bring. I love you Darrin!! Happy Anniversary!!!
P.S. on a COMPLETELY different subject, Parker didn't have ANY ACCIDENTS yesterday! He's been getting better. I feel like we've kind of gotten over a hump of awfulness and are moving into something better. It still is not fun or easy, but getting better (knock on wood!). So all of you who are thinking of potty training someday or today, YOU CAN DO IT! It's really really hard, but I'm hoping it'll all be worth it! :).
